Orchid day with Joseph Ford- 5th April

Joseph Ford NDH WDPH (National Diploma in Horticulture, Wisley Diploma in PracticalHorticulture) has an incredible passion for orchids which started from a young age.

“My fascination with orchids started when I was three years old and my younger sister was about to be born. My father told me that when she was born our woods (we lived on a farm) would be full of orchids. She was born and the woods were full of orchids. I thought it miraculous. Later my interest broadened to tropical orchids and I began an orchid collection.”
Seven years of studying at Plumpton College and the RHS Garden Wisley, taught Joseph a wide range of techniques for plants to grow and look their best. However, what he saw happening outside of these environments showed the division between ‘professional’ gardeners and ordinary gardeners. He decided to bridge this divide.

It is Josephs understanding of this that allows him to convey his specialist subject in such a captivating yet comprehendible way. He is a true raconteur, with an archive of fascinating tales to tell from his orchid related adventures from across the globe.
We are delighted to have Joseph with us for the whole day on the 5th. He will be running presentations and orchid surgery; where customers are invited to bring their orchids in for Joseph to cast his expert eye over.
